President's Message for 2012
Dear Members and Friends,
It is my great honor to serve as President of the Police Emerald Society. The coming year will be the second and final year of my term. 2012 also marks the fiftieth anniversary of our organization. Our society was founded in 1962. From humble beginnings, our organization has grown to be one of the leading emerald societies on the local, state and national level.
We are the largest police fraternal organization within Nassau County. We encompass members of the county, nineteen village and city police departments and several other law enforcement agencies. Our goals are to promote Irish heritage in law enforcement and to support charitable and cultural causes. We have supported organizations such as Project Children and the AHRC. We are a charter member of the Easter Monday Monument Committee. We are a member of the Grand Council of United Emerald Societies and a charter member of the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies.
This year, we have a full agenda planned for our members and friends. In March, we will participate in both the Garden City and the NYC Saint Patrick's Day Parades, hosting parties following both. Our annual Golf Outing will be held in June and our 200 Club Party in October. In October, we will also be participating in the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies fall meeting in London. Our Christmas Party and other favorites will also return this year.
What makes this possible is your continuing participation and support. Membership applications are available on the membership page of this website. Also, please spread the word to your colleagues, friends and family that we always welcome new members. We have several categories of membership, not limited to members of law enforcement. These categories are explained on our membership page. Once again, thanks for your support.
Fraternally,
Thomas F. DeSane
President
